 CALIFORNIA CITY is located in the Northern Antelope Valley area of Kern County in Southern California, approximately 110 miles north of Los Angeles, 65 miles southeast of Bakersfield, and 27 miles east of Tehachapi. In addition, Edwards Air Force Base is only about 15 minutes away, and many of the bases personnel live in California City. California City is well located for easy access, with the city limits extending to Highway 58 to the south, Highway 395 to the east, and Highway 14 to the west.
California City has a PGA golf course, the Tierra Del Sol Championship Golf Course, as well as an 80 acre Central Park which includes an 18 acre lake, a public swimming pool, tennis courts, and other sports facilities. In addition, the Silver Saddle Lake and Park at the nearby Silver Saddle Ranch and Club offers has a variety of water sports opportunities, as well as fishing, tennis, volleyball, horseback riding, and a very nice hotel and restaurant.
In addition, California City has recently been undergoing an increase in development, with numerous projects currently under construction, such as The Villages, California City’s newest master planned community which will include 1,130 housing units and 46 acres of commercial, retail and office space. The city is committed to increased growth and has planned for it.
